ROMEO (Rice Owl Mentors Eating Out) is an informal fellowship group of alumni and friends of Rice University in Houston, Texas, formed in the early 1990′s. We are sanctioned by the Alumni Office of Rice as an Alumni Special Interest Group.
- Read our history in this article in Cornerstone
(beginning on page 11) - In January 2010, the group officially changed its name to Rice Owl Mentors Eating Out. We welcome attendance of all ladies and gentlemen of the Rice community. ROMEO has no dues.
We meet for lunch once a quarter at the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society Club on Westheimer Way at 5430 Westheimer Rd. Free parking is available for HESS guests on the garage lower level, where there is a direct club entrance and elevator – NO STAIRS!
The cash bar opens about 11.15 and seated lunch begins at 12.00. Programs include varied and interesting presentations by Rice faculty and other members of the Rice community.
Joining ROMEO is very simple. You must:
- be somehow interested in Rice University;
- show up and pay for lunch; and
- raise your right hand and repeat: “I am a ROMEO“.
Do you need a ride to the meetings? Or can you give a ride to someone who needs one? Please let them know at the door when you check in.
